Making A Difference, Simone Goes Green

Aug. 4, 2009 - PRLog -- August 8th, Melbourne-based modern-rock group 'Simone' continues their campaign in actively reducing the amount of plastics wasted in the recording industry. Having teamed up with industry giant, CD Recycling Center, their mission is to recycle 2000 pounds of unused compact disc materials throughout the remainder of the year. 'It takes a pound of plastic to make thirty CD's', cites lead vocalist Simone, 'and 300 cubic feet of natural gas – we need to find a solution.' Having recently released their fourth CD ‘Built To Last’, Simone tours throughout the southeast making a difference. In the three weeks that their campaign has been active, the band has received over 100lbs of donated compact discs. ‘You wouldn’t believe how many of the old internet dial-up cd’s we get!’ states Simone, ‘but every disc is important – they all count’.

Appearing Saturday, August 8th  at the popular Indialantic nightclub, The Hustler, the group is asking concert-goers to bring one compact disc to be recycled.  'We aren't looking for lots of bulk,' continues Simone, 'we're really more interested in making each fan a part of the process - make it personal so everyone has a stake in this project.' Donors will receive a free ‘Simone’ CD in return for their compact disc donation. ‘It’s our way of minimizing the amount of waste – we just want to be part of the solution.’

The 21+ concert begins at 9PM and tickets are $5.00. Also scheduled to perform are local favorite ‘Arkaydia’ and touring Phoenix, AZ band ‘The Sammus Theory’.
