Elmendorf Tearing Resistance Testing

July 30, 2009 - PRLog -- Elmendorf Method, also called Elmendorf Tearing Resistance Testing or Pendulum method for its pendulum testing principle, is for the tearing performance testing of flexible PVC, polyolefine, polyester, laminated film, sheets, paper, cardboard, textiles and non-woven, etc. This method can evaluate the tearing resistance property of a specific material so as to guarantee the material selection. The relevant international standards for Elmendorf Method include ASTM D1922, ASTM D1424, TAPPI T414, ISO 6383, ISO 1974, GB 11999, GB/T 455.1 and GB/T 455.2, etc.

 The main principle of Elmendorf Method is as follows: Lift the pendulum up to certain height, enable it to have a certain potential energy, pendulum tears the specimen while swinging down, computer calculates the decreasing energy caused by tearing.
