Our Deployed Troops Just Wanna have Fun, So SKIP Delivers Fun

The new and improved SKIP care packages will contain items such as: books, DVDs, CDs, iTunes (or similar) gift cards, card games and playing cards, small toys like Yo- Yos and Slinkies, puzzles, cards/letters from home, candy, popcorn, and peanuts.

July 25, 2009 - PRLog -- East Bridgewater, Mass. – Following the most recent shipment of roughly 300 care packages, Special Kindness In Packages, Inc. (SKIP) has been placed in a unique position. The SKIP storage facility, for the first time since 2004, is almost entirely depleted of supplies for future care packages. Despite the possible devastation this may have caused the organization, SKIP seized the opportunity in order to meet or exceed the current wishes and needs of our deployed military.

SKIP volunteers, supporters, and several troops who have received SKIP care packages recently discussed possible changes to improve the care package quality and personal convenience while expediting the restocking process. As military members became involved in the discussion a trend became very apparent: our deployed troops have a more prominent need for entertainment than soap and toothpaste. One Marine precisely summarized this by saying, “...you generally have plenty of hygiene stuff, especially considering that everyone sends it. Entertainment care packages would definitely set (SKIP) apart and while (deployed troops) appreciate every care package we get, a game or candy is always more fun then soap!” - Sgt Jeff M., USMC (Afghanistan)

Energetically, the decision reached was that SKIP care packages should and will focus entirely on entertainment for the troops. These entertainment focused care packages, dubbed “Fun in a Box,” will make SKIP the first military support organization to break the mold of the traditional military care package.

Specifically, the new and improved SKIP care packages will contain items such as: books, DVDs, CDs, iTunes (or similar) gift cards, card games and playing cards, small toys like Yo- Yos and Slinkies, puzzles, cards/letters from home, candy, popcorn, and peanuts For a more detailed list of items, including maximum size requirements for each item, please visit www.SKIPcares.org or call (339) 788-9668.
