Bodrum, Home to Some of the Most Prestigious Properties in Turkey

July 21, 2009 - PRLog -- An aspect of Bodrum property market, that only a lucky few would have had the privilege to experience

A recent study performed by Place Overseas of UK, amongst some of Europe and Middle East’s’ wealthiest life-style real estate buyers, concluded that Bodrum, Turkey is now amongst top 5 destinations in Europe for prestigious home buyers.   It is not therefore surprising that the elite side of Bodrum property market homes some incredible mansions and villas, set in secluded little bays or on hilltop overlooking Yalikavak or Turkbuku, that start from GBP 5 million as a minimum.

So what we did is expand our research into talking to owners of prestigious properties in Bodrum.  Although most of them valued their privacy a little too much for our liking, we managed to talk to a sample of 30 home owners, who purchased in Bodrum over the last 5 years.  Here is a brief account of our findings.

1. About 50% are Turkish nationals from major cities in Turkey such as Istanbul and Izmir.  Rest are made up of Americans, European and Russian oil tycoons.
2. 70% do not live in Bodrum on full time basis, therefore their Bodrum home represents a prestigious get away and a place where they entertain their guests
3. 30% also have yachts in Bodrum, Yalikavak or Bodrum marinas.
4. The most expensive Luxury Property in Bodrum we visited was purchased for Euro 15 million in 2005.   Just to add – it has a helipad and 3 separate guest houses, which would be superb villas on their own.
5. One of the villas we visited had an art collection that would easily fill a dedicated section of the British Museum, heavy security in place by the way before you walk away with ideas.
6. The highest density of prestigious homes in Bodrum appears to be in Yalikavak, followed by Turkbuku, Bitez and Bodrum Town.
7. Our favourite, however, was a beachfront villa estate near Gundogan, Bodrum with its private beach and mooring facility.  Although, this lovely villa is rather modest in terms of size and price, it received top marks from Place Overseas nevertheless.  Click to see Beachfront Bodrum Villa Private Beach & Jetty 6 Bedrooms

Owners of Luxury Homes in Bodrum tends not to allow their properties for sale to be advertised on any web site or in the media in general.  Sale and purchase of such properties tend to be done pretty much on the quiet side through intermediaries, such as Place Overseas Exclusives, who keep a low profile and specialize in higher end property sales.
