July 10, 2009 - PRLog -- Ambassadors of 192 different countries,
celebrities, royalty, leaders in the business world, and special
guests will come together at the United Nations to try and
implement the fight for global climate change. The main purpose
of the meeting will be to overcome both environmental and humanitarian
challenges worldwide, which will be materialized in both a conference and a
gala benefit dinner.

The Sustainable Forum conference, taking place in the morning, is
organized in conjunction with the United Nations Association of Brazil and
will be attended by more than 800 individuals. The gala will be held by the
International Renewable Energy Organization (I.R.E.O.), an intergovernmental
organization. I.R.E.O is focused on building the bridge between governments,
non-government organizations, social communities, and private sectors in
order to establish a global alliance in renewable energy.

One of the main initiatives that I.R.E.O is currently working on is the harmful
abundance of blue-green algae naturally occurring around the shorelines in
bodies of water throughout the Dominican Republic and Brazil. Peter Ubaldi,
the gentleman in charge of the I.R.E.O water campaign, has created Clear
Blue, a low-tech solution to the purification of contaminated lagoons. Clear
Blue, a copper-based solution, has the ability to eradicate the bacteria that
are killing the fish and breeding mosquitoes. “Many waters are contaminated
with e-coli, mosquitoes, and malaria,” says Ubaldi, “but people continue to
drink the water. Although it is naturally occurring, the problem is increasing
in shallow waters because of global warming.” But I.R.E.O’s main goal is to
establish pilot projects for various working sectors in developing countries
such as these so they are able to independently support their nation and
region using new energy and will no longer need the aid of I.R.E.O.

The gala will be attended by the global elite and will create vast networking
opportunities between those with financial power and individuals with
important causes to be heard. Last year, George Bush Sr. and Bill Clinton
were among the guest speakers and this year, Al Gore is slated to give a
speech. Other people expected to attend include Tony Blair, Condoleezza
Rice, and of course, returning attendees Bush Sr. and Clinton. Leonardo
DiCaprio, who is already involved with I.R.E.O. and is one of the greenest
celebrities on the planet, will also be present.

“I feel that renewable energy is the one and only solution to fight climate
change and global warming,” says Paolo Zampolli, executive director of the
I.R.E.O organization. “Substantial efforts are needed to reach sustainable
development.” In organizing the conference and gala dinner, Zampolli believes
that these individuals and organizations will be able to provide the greatest
assistance for nations in need by sharing resources and working hand-inhand
to deliver results as one. Based on the results of these projects, I.R.E.O
will share the results with other organizations and expand on what they have
learned to implement similar programs in their communities.
