Philadelphia Lawyer Mark Tanner to Address Bad Faith Claims in Pennsylvania Medical Malpractice Case

This four credit program will cover bad faith claims arising from excess verdicts, punitive damages, attorney-client privilege, statute of limitations issues, and other topics in this emerging practice area.

As an example, Tanner will discuss a $7.9 million bad faith federal jury verdict against an insurer, which was considered to be the largest in Pennsylvania history. In the Jurinko vs. The Medical Protective Co., Tanner’s client was awarded more than $7.9 million - including $6.25 million in punitive damages - in a doctor's claim that his insurer's failure to offer the limits of his policy in a medical malpractice action led to a $2.5 million medical malpractice verdict against him for allegedly failing to diagnose Stephen Jurinko's skin cancer.
