BOND restaurant : Lounge Debuts at The Langham, Boston

BOND promises to be a premiere destination for cosmopolitan dining, cocktails and entertainment. BOND’s food, cocktails and music all have a sophisticated, international flair, using the venue’s financial history as a point of inspiration.

Created by the world-renowned team at Jeffrey Beers International, the design capitalizes on the grandeur of the room’s historic pedigree and introduces modern elements and clever interpretations of BOND’s financial heritage. Owned and operated by The Langham, Boston, BOND is located within the former Federal Reserve Bank, constructed in 1922 in the heart of Boston’s Financial District. The historical significance and richness of the original space, the former bank’s Member’s Court, will allow guests to experience a unique sense of glamour and mystique in an exclusive dining and nightlife setting that will be new to Boston.

“Our BOND restaurant and lounge will captivate all senses - from the international cuisine and wine list, to the custom-mixed music by DJ Mario, to the rich fabrics and colors throughout the room,” said Serge Denis, Managing Director. “We are truly excited to open this venue at The Langham, Boston. It will be the first new outlet at the hotel since it was re-branded as Langham five years ago.”    
                                                                   
Jeffrey Beers International, based in New York City, has produced a diverse portfolio of high-profile projects that include award-winning hotels, restaurants, retail outlets, residences, offices and nightclubs all over the world. Select projects include: Echelon in Las Vegas, Atlantis Dubai, Fontainebleau Miami and Ono in New York City.

Although Mr. Beers has many ties to Boston, BOND will be his first project in the area. For BOND’s design, Jeffery Beers’ team utilized the classic architectural elements and rich history of the bank in combination with cutting edge materials and design elements to create a modern and glamorous flair. Vaulted 25-foot ceilings, rich colors, and plush, versatile lounge seating are paired with a 12-foot mirrored bar backdrop, dramatic lighting and artwork that enhances the sensuous ambiance of BOND.  Mr. Beers’ design emphasizes and accentuates the aspects of this historic room, bringing back a sense of opulence to nightlife. Reflective elements like the rich red Barrisol ceiling, the room’s original crystal chandeliers and panels of mirrors and etched glass create a glittering light that literally mirrors the glamour of BOND’s patrons. Other details like the curved rosewood bar evoke design elements common in bars and lounges throughout the 1950’s, an era of classic cocktail culture that Jeffrey Beers hopes to reignite with BOND.  

“Our vision, when designing BOND, was to carefully preserve and honor the beautiful existing architecture, while infusing the space with a modern, energetic flair,” said Jeffrey Beers, Founder and CEO, Jeffrey Beers International. “It was important to deliver a space both dramatic and sophisticated while maintaining a comfortable intimacy.  I am quite pleased to say I believe the outcome has proven to be a successful integration of the two, and hope BOND provides the residents of Boston with a new and enjoyable kind of lounge experience.”

In addition to the 78 seats in the main area and 10 seats at the bar, there will also be a Mezzanine Lounge offering an exclusive VIP area with private seating and a view over the entire room. The VIP space will provide a voyeuristic feel of being able to watch the entire room, but also allow a sense of privacy when desired. The Mezzanine Lounge will offer personal service for groups up to 18 people.
COCKTAILS
BOND’s mission is to resurrect glamorous cocktailing from years past. Its extensive beverage list includes a variety of traditional cocktails and martinis as well as signature libations including; Sawbuck Martini (pear Grey Goose, fresh lime juice, ginger, and basil); Quarter Martini (tequila, pomegranate juice, lime juice, and chili flakes); The Madison (chocolate liquor, Chambord, cream, raspberry juice, and fresh raspberries); and The Chase (rum, Navan, orange juice, strawberry juice, dark rum, and vanilla bean). The venue will house an international collection of high-end liquors and an extensive wine list, by both the bottle and by the glass, featuring a selection from vineyards around the world.  In keeping with its continental personality, BOND will feature an exclusive champagne lounge by French wine house Dom Perignon located on the Mezzanine level.





FOOD
To complement the venue’s international vibe, guests will enjoy cosmopolitan global
cuisine, prepared by Executive Chef, Mark Sapienza. Small plates will be offered during dinner and will include; Foraged Mushroom and Parmesan “Arancini” with Fontina  Fonduta, Lamb Kafta Tagine with Preserved Lemon and Cilantro, and Halibut “a la Plantar” with Espelette Pepper, Potato Piperade and Romesco. Catering to the lunch time guest, menu items will include; Jumbo Kobe Beef Hot Dog Steamed in Cape Ann  Kölsch Ale and Green Tomato Piccalilli, the Misty Knoll Roast Turkey “Club” with Maple Smoked Bacon, Bibb Lettuce, and Organic Tomato on Whole Wheat Hearth Bread and Crispy Asian Lobster, Crab and Shrimp Rolls Sweet and Spicy Chili Dipping Sauce.  

Afternoon Tea will be a mix of legendary and contemporary offerings which is a Langham signature. For the sweet tooth, Pastry Chef, Trena Costello will prepare global desserts including; Mango Tres Leche (Mexico), Chocolate and  Coffee Tart with Condensed Milk Chantilly (Vietnamese), and Roasted Seckle Pear Tart, Gorgonzola Mascarpone and Moscato (Italy).  Ingredients used to create all dishes hail from local purveyors adding a fresh New England taste to the menu’s global influence.

ENTERTAINMENT
DJ Mario will custom-mix all music played in BOND. During the day, music will move between a world ambient vibe to classic and modern jazz.  In the evening hours, BOND transitions into a hip nightlife venue. Guests will bask in the different levels of lighting reflecting off the expansive chandeliers and mirrors, while listening to music ranging from cutting edge electro-lounge to smooth eclectic beats. DJ Mario will offer live   music-styling Thursday through Saturday evenings from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
