Author Reveals Biography of Waldorf-Astoria Hotels in Self Published Book

Ward Morehouse gave life to his book Waldorf-Astoria and told tales of being a resident for years.

June 5, 2009 - PRLog -- When you have lived in one of the world’s best hotels long enough to tell the tale, sharing it becomes gospel that people will want to hear. Self-published author Ward Morehouse III opted to write the book, The Waldorf-Astoria: America’s Gilded Dream, and give more mileage to this story.

Morehouse, son of drama critic Ward Morehouse, lived at the Waldorf for years at his father’s suite at The Plaza. His residency earned him the authority to create a fantastic timeline of Waldorf-Astoria’s sights and sounds.

This Xlibris book’s release was also timely for the hotel’s seventy-fifth anniversary in 2006 and paid tribute to the royalties, parliaments, celebrities and presidents who have once built a home at the Waldorf.

The Waldorf-Astoria tells the story of someone who has seen, heard, felt, listened and smelled New York’s favorite hotel. Its history does not lie on the stone brick walls or on the longevity of its construction but on the kinds of cultural talent the Waldorf has housed for centuries.

Morehouse talks about the hotel resident idiosyncrasies of General Douglas McArthur, Cole Porter and Frank Sinatra while managing to write about scandals and romances without overtly staining their reputation.

Ward Morehouse’s self-published book is very intimate and entertaining. If you want to be taken to a behind-the-scenes anecdote of the Waldorf-Astoria hotel that people have never witnessed before, this book is for you.

The Waldorf-Astoria: America’s Gilded Dream is published by Xlibris.
