International Tobacco Control Corruption ExposedInternational corruption is now commonplace within Tobacco Control organisations, it has been revealed.
By: Freedom To Choose (Scotland) Freedom To Choose (Scotland) has pieced together the jigsaw and can expose the underhand manipulation of studies and governments by these extremist organisations in pursuit of profit. “For too long now we’ve been brainwashed by propaganda spewed out by Tobacco Control agencies, funded by the large pharmaceutical companies to push their products,” states chairman Eddie Douthwaite. “The pharmaceutical industry has an enormous stake in the war against the tobacco industry.” The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (Johnson & Johnson Inc) has funded numerous anti-smoking organisations with millions of dollars in grants to lobby for the introduction of smoking bans and for those same organisations to promote their Nicotine Replacement Products. (1&2) Other leading pharmaceutical companies, including GlaxoSmithKline, Pharmacia and Novartis Consumer Healthcare have done deals with the British Government and offer cash rebates to the Primary Care Trusts on the uptake of their smoking cessation products. (3&4) “Smoking bans are just big business to the pharmaceutical companies and another way to make profits, at whatever cost to society,” continues Eddie Douthwaite. The loss of jobs in the hospitality trade is indisputable as a result of smoking bans and has even been documented by anti-smoking organisations. Their funded propaganda, however, was enough to silence the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) who have stated that second hand smoke is 150 times safer than regulations require. (2) A recent study to ‘spin’ the appalling failure rate (98.4%) of smoking cessation products (NRT) has been released, with one author, Paul Aveyard, acknowledging that he had received funds from McNeil, a pharmaceutical company associated with the Johnson & Johnson family of companies. McNeil manufactures NRT and therefore profits from this type of study. (5) Freedom To Choose (Scotland) has no financial links with either Tobacco Companies or the Pharmaceutical Industry and recognises the corruption within the marketplace. “It is obvious to all independent individuals that smoking bans have nothing to do with health. Second hand smoke is not harmful; NRT has a proven long-term failure rate and yet anti-smoking extremists have found a way to create a new multi-million dollar industry using propaganda to line their pockets with taxpayers’ money,” claims Eddie Douthwaite. Nicotine Replacement Therapy and the anti-smoking lobby are now corrupt multi-million dollar industries. Freedom To Choose (Scotland) is urging all governments to accept only independent studies with scientific integrity and not studies from those with a vested interest in their products, which are questionable. Freedom To Choose (Scotland) is also requesting governments to review studies presented by those with financial interests and treat them with the due caution that they deserve. References: 1.
