By: Giselle LaFrance, Tech Collective In Rhode Island, the Tech Collective, the Rhode Island Commission on Women and the New England Institute of Technology have been the first to partner with the NEGC’s coalition of nearly 100 committed girl-focused programs and organizations. In working together, the Rhode Island kick-off of the NEGC project aims to continue to expand upon the knowledge, resources and reach needed to increase the STEM participation and opportunities available to girls across the state, the northeast and the nation. What: The NEGC will be hosting a networking event to officially kick-off the organizations effort in Rhode Island Why: To create a strong network of organizations and individuals who are committed to informing and motivating girls to pursue careers in STEM. When: Saturday, May 16, 2009, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm Where: New England Institute of Technology Center for Business and Industry, Student Lounge 2480 Post Road, Warwick Who: Girl-serving organizations, professional organizations, businesses, higher education, K-12 teachers and after school programs from Rhode Island and Massachusetts End
