May 12, 2009 - PRLog -- A Huyton based ‘Hitman’ fan has taken name changes to a new level by changing his name by Deed Poll to ‘Agent 47’ after a drunken prank gained him not only 1500 followers on Facebook but a bit of a reputation locally! 20 year-old Christopher Dobson changed his name to ‘Agent 47’ after his two friends Robert Murphy and Richey Manifold decided to make a drunken pact after watching the Hollywood blockbuster ‘Hitman’ to change their names to ‘Agent 46’, ‘Agent 47’ and ‘Agent 48.’

The Apprentice joiner then decided to start a Facebook group, which pledged that once the group hit 1000 members he would change his name officially, and after gaining 1500 members there was nothing left but to set the wheels in motion!

Agent 47, who changed his name by Deed Poll earlier this week, said, “We were all watching the film before a night out to Christchurch and decided to set ourselves this unusual challenge!  We were all going to change our names as part of the bet, but I was the only one who went through with it and my friends backed out!

“I started a Facebook group to drum up some support and to see if I could get 1000 hits and I got 1500 people joining the group. Some were family and friends but others were strangers from around the world- Someone from California even joined!”

Carried out at The Legal Deed Service, the leading provider of online Deed Polls for just £10, the name change even amused those who processed it!

Chief executive of The Legal Deed Service, Jamie Jackson said, “We recently changed Christine Hamilton’s name by Deed Poll to ‘Mrs British Battleaxe’ and since then, the number of applications we receive for crazy name changes has gone through the roof!  We all had a good giggle at this name change and think that Agent 47’s two friends should give us a call to keep up their side of the bargain!”

Agent 47 added, “I’ve told a few people about my name change but not everyone.  My mum knew a while back about the bet and she wasn’t too happy about it then, I haven’t told her that I have changed it officially yet so it will be funny when she opens the paper!”
