May 11, 2009 - PRLog -- A brand new business dedicated to selling men’s designer underwear online has launched.

The website, called getemoffmensunderwear.co.uk, will specialise in providing men with underwear from leading designer brands including Calvin Klein, D&G and Diesel. The added incentive is that a percentage of total profits per quarter will be donated to men’s testicular cancer charity, Orchid – something that competitors to www.getemoffmensunderwear.co.uk do not offer.

Website founder, Gareth Shaw, fell upon the idea of selling men’s designer underwear following a discussion with a friend who had had an unsatisfactory experience buying from an alternative online retailer. Undeterred by the current economic climate, Gareth began to develop his business idea with a focus on customer service and the unique proposition of donating a percentage of his profits to a related charity.

Gareth, a Procurement Manager with eight years experience in supply chain, says, “Starting my own business is something I’ve been considering for some time but as the Credit Crunch has tightened its grip on the economy, I wanted to be sure the market I was entering was lucrative. The results I’ve found in the seven months I’ve researched my business idea shows that men’s underwear is a business sector that’s likely to deliver growth.”

“Initially, my aim is to focus on selling a comprehensive selection of designer underwear from three key brands with a view to extending my portfolio as the business develops into its second year. My point of difference is that I am committing 5% of my total profit per quarter to Orchid, the men’s testicular cancer charity, something my main competitors don’t do. Excellence in customer service is also a priority – online shoppers who have a poor purchasing experience are unlikely to shop at the same site a second time, so satisfying customer orders on time, every time is a major focus.”

Despite the Credit Crunch, men’s designer underwear is a growing market. Between 2006 and 2007, sales of men’s underwear increased by 15.6%. More specifically, men’s underpants saw a positive growth of 4.2% with significant growth in the premium sector of the market*. Research shows men are increasingly aware of how they look and are prepared to spend money on products that enhance their appearance.

Gareth said, “The rise of the ‘metro sexual’ – typically, men who have a high disposable income who are concerned with taking care of their appearance  - has meant that in recent years, clothing and cosmetics aimed at the higher end of the market have become increasingly popular”

“www.getemoffmendunderwear.co.uk aims to supply the demand within the men’s designer underwear market, giving customers peace of mind that when they make a purchase, they are doing their bit for charity at the same time.”
