I am so glad that this year I do not have to be all creative by myself – I am handing that plate over to Diane this year, “Go Diane!,” says Sharan Nixon, CEO of Baltimore Fashion Week. Freeland began her career in event planning over 20 years ago with the Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC) planning various events such as seminars, welcome receptions, and luncheons. Her biggest events were planning the annual Orioles luncheon, Flag Day events, and GBC’s annual business meeting. After moving in another direction professionally, Freeland returned to her first love, event planning. From there, she launched her Events of Sophistication business. Aside from event planning, Freeland is the co-founder of The Magic Wand Project, an organization committed to providing prom attire for young men and women whose families can not afford the cost of gowns and tuxedos. She wrote an article titled, “Our Love of Chocolate” that was published in Engaged! Magazine’s Fall 2007 issue.
