March 30, 2009 - PRLog -- The education industry consists of professionals dedicated to the field of teaching and developing knowledge on all levels. As current research exhibits though, learning and knowledge development do not occur only on the end of those receiving services from the education industry; learning happens to those working within the field, as well. According to HR Solutions’ National Normative Database, 77 percent of professionals in the education industry believe that their job provides them with opportunity to learn new skills, while the national norm for all industries reports that only 69 percent of surveyed professionals find this opportunity in their position.

These survey results show a continuous growth of new skills among academic professionals, which is a good sign for the industry. In the ever-evolving realm of education, the enhancement of workers’ skills acts as vital in keeping up with new technology, whether it is to be taught about or to be used in improving the act of educating. Although professionals in every industry must be able to adapt to technological advancements, educators hold an especially important role in doing so. They need to not only learn how to use current innovations, but how to truly understand them, in order to educate others.

Opportunity is presented regularly to every person who wishes to recognize it. The fact that 77 percent of academic professionals are able to identify chances for acquiring new skills within their position shows a necessary awareness in a field that requires adaptation, understanding and a significant amount of learning on all ends.
