Experts Assess Causes, Offer Fixes for Economic Crisis on March 8 Coral Ridge Hour Broadcast

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL. –With stocks sliding, banks buckling, and home prices plunging, economic experts examine the underlying causes of America’s financial crisis and offer remedies on the March 8 Coral Ridge Hour television broadcast.

Aired weekly, The Coral Ridge Hour is the flagship broadcast of Christian media outreach Coral Ridge Ministries. The program offers timely messages from Coral Ridge Ministries’ founder, Dr. D. James Kennedy, and biblical perspectives on current events. Visit The Coral Ridge Hour station log for station listings at http://www.coralridge.org/stationfinder/default.aspx?cur=crh

In a feature on the March 8 program, guests discuss government redistribution policies that effectively “steal” from one segment of the population to benefit others, and explore how current fiscal policy will lead to inflation. http://www.coralridge.org/medialibrary/default.aspx?media... The feature is preceded by a sermon preached by Dr. Kennedy entitled, “Government: A Fearful Master.”

Experts appearing on the program include Dr. Walter E. Williams, professor of economics at George Mason University; Lawrence W. Reed, president of the Foundation for Economic Education; Gary DeMar, president of Christian worldview ministry American Vision; and Dr. E. Calvin Beisner, author and national spokesman for the Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation.

America faces the greatest economic downturn since the Great Depression because “We have attempted to overrule God’s economic laws,” said Gary DeMar on the program. A cultural “preoccupation with materialism” and “people living way beyond their means” are two primary factors that led to America’s economic collapse, he said.

When the federal government not only backed loans, but forced banks to extend mortgages to high-risk customers, program guests say the government overreached into America’s free market economy.

“People began to flood into the market place saying, ‘I want this loan with no money down,’” DeMar said. “Of course, when there was a blip in the economy, people began to lose their jobs and a ripple effect took place . . .  and people are now defaulting on their homes.”

“The bad news is, we are in an economic crisis, the good news is, there is a way out,” said Dr. Jerry Newcombe, host of The Coral Ridge Hour. “It’s time to call on our leaders in Washington to make a change. We must urge them to reverse the disastrous economic policies that have landed us where we are and to return to the biblical principles that made this nation great.”

Dr. Newcombe urges Coral Ridge Hour viewers to sign an “Economic Manifesto” to be sent to President Barack Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. https://store.coralridge.org/EconomicManifesto.aspx The Manifesto outlines seven Bible-based principles to help rescue America’s economy and is available on Coral Ridge Ministries’ website at https://store.coralridge.org/_layouts/CRMCommon/pages/Eco...
