COMSTECH Announces Awards for Scientists from OIC States

COMSTECH has announced four categories of awards, each carrying an amount of 3000/- US Dollars, for scientits of the OIC countries

Feb. 16, 2009 - PRLog -- Organization of the Islamic Conference Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) has announced institution of awards for outstanding nationals of the OIC member states in the field of science and technology.

Applications for COMSTECH Awards have been invited from the scientists of the OIC region under the following four categories namely COMSTECH Young Scientist Award, Best Scientific Book Award, Best Research Paper Award, Award for Patent. COMSTECH has sited April 30, 2009 as the last date for applications to reach COMSTECH Secretariat in Islamabad, Pakistan.

The Young Scientist Award is for scientists under the age of 40 years. The Best Scientific Book Award recognizes the work done in any of the COMSTECH/OIC official languages i.e. English, French and Arabic and published by any renowned international publisher.
The Best Research Paper Award is for original research published in a well-reputed international journal.

COMSTECH Patent Award recognizes individuals for their outstanding contributions to their respective field of discovery that have had lasting impact in furthering the theory or development of commercial systems. Only nationals from the COMSTECH/OIC member states and doing their research within the OIC region are eligible to apply for all four categories of awards.

COMSTECH has decided to institute the science excellence awards in order to encourage the scientific research in its member states. These awards are expected to generate a healthy competition among the researchers of the OIC region and enhance the process of individual advancement in science and technology which would lead to nationally competitive environment resulting in collective development of the OIC region.

All the COMSTECH Award categories carry, alongside a certificate, the cash prize of US $ 3000/- each. The last date to apply for entering the competition is April 30, 2009 for which the contesting scientists are required to send in an application to COMSTECH Secretariat in Islamabad, Pakistan on a prescribed format available at www.comstech.org.
