By: Dream-Maker Inc to overcome dope & marijuana abuse http://www.PaulFDavis.com - worldwide speaker, transformation coach & author of Breakthrough for a Broken Heart (along with several other books) RevivingNations@ Sadly all of the youth who looked up to Michael have been devastated. Nevertheless it is a teaching moment that just because a person excels in one aspect of their life, does not mean every area of their life if together and perfect. College students still do dumb thinks, Olympic gold medalist or not. The International Olympic Committee and two of Michael Phelps' leading sponsors expressed support for the Olympic great after he apologized for smoking dope. A British newspaper caught and captured on photo Phelps inhaling from a marijuana pipe. The British tabloid published a photo and story showing Michael Phelps smoking from a marijuana pipe nearly three months after the swimmer wrapped up a record haul of eight gold medals in Beijing. The IOC said it was confident Phelps would learn from his "inappropriate behavior" and continue to serve as a role model. Other sponsors seemed supportive, but cautious should Phelps have a relapse into dope use. Undoubtedly marijuana makes a smart and talented kid average, while making average kids dumb. I can't imagine why an Olympic caliber athlete like Michael Phelps would want to slow down his fiery speed, which has served him well in the water when competing. Phelps is on track to earn around $100 million from endorsements and has already signed deals with Speedo, Visa, Frosted Flakes cereal and the video game Guitar Hero. Truly, role models are best chosen from those you know well, not those you know through a TV screen. Yet in the water Michael Phelps remains the best. I just hope he can sustain it and not "go off the deep end" with dope and marijuana use. http://www.PaulFDavis.com - worldwide speaker & transformation coach, author of 14 life-changing books My mom was a cheerleader, honor graduate, and homecoming court contestant. Yet all of her remarkable gifts diminished quickly once she began using drugs. Hence she died a premature death and deeply saddened her friends and family. Let us all beware lest we like Michael seek to turn to substance abuse (dope, marijuana, cannabis) to quiet emotional turmoil within. Phelps heartfelt apology to his fans and sponsors reveal he is truly contrite in heart.
