FL Gov. Charlie Crist flying high despite $2.1 bn budget deficit. Crist travels to Europe $430,000

Dec. 17, 2008 - PRLog -- While Florida is facing a $2.1 billion budget deficit this year with projections of as much as a $5.8 billion deficit for the 2009-10 budget year, Gov. Charlie Crist is flying high. While Gov. Crist said "our state is facing challenging economic times" and urged all Floridians to tighten their belts and live within their means, the governor of Florida himself dropped $430,000 on a 12 day trip to Europe.

Life as governor of Florida appears good for Charlie Crist. Perhaps the next time he and his entourage go on a Europe trip some other Florida residents can come along for the ride.

Crist's trip costing $430,000 certainly wasn't a case of leadership by example. We the citizens of Florida must rise up and stop these types of incidents. The same type of incident occurred with the previous bailout wherein top officials from AIG, a company receiving taxpayer money, went to a California resort and spent $443,000.

If this is the American way, I am going to invest my dollars in gold, China's yuan, the Japanese yen, or Euro before the greenback has a heartattack. The U.S. Treasury cannot endlessly print money and avoid nasty inflation that is likely to follow. The death of the dollar is fast approaching with governmental big spending like Charlie Crist at the helm in Florida.
