PlayStation Home Goes Live For PS3

PlayStation Home will let PS3 users create their own three-dimensional gaming space, where they can interact with other players.

Players can create virtual representations of themselves, known as avatars, which they can dress and move around the virtual world.

There will be shops, run by brands such as Diesel, in the virtual world so that users can buy the latest clothes to dress their avatar and furnish their virtual apartments.

The portal is available as a free download for all PS3 owners, allowing them to communicate with other users about their favourite games through text and voice chat.

Sony has created "game environments" for the most popular PS3 games so that fans can enter the social network to discuss the games and swap tips and strategies.

Kazuo Hirai, president of Sony Computer Entertainment, said: "PlayStation Home is truly a promising network community service.

"We are committed to providing PS3 users with exciting gaming experiences with PlayStation Home and, together with our partners and users, expand the new world of interactive entertainment as we move forward."
