Prince Edward Island Announces 3 Tournaments Open to All Amateur Players

Golfsmith has joined together with the province of Prince Edward Island, Canada and Golf Holidays International to present three Amateur Championships, to be played over The Links at Crowbush Cove, Dundarave Golf Club and Brudenell River Golf Club.

Barry McLeod, Chief Operating Officer, GOLF PEI, has announced three major amateur tournaments to take place in PEI in late June and early July 2009.

Together with the presenting sponsor, Golfsmith, and the travel wholesaler, Golf Holidays International, GOLF PEI has put together a 72-hole Better Ball event believed to be the first 72-hole Better Ball tournament in the world. Open to amateur teams of two, the event will be played over the Links at Crowbush Cove and Dundarave courses.

A 36-hole Mixed Better Ball event, and a 36-hole Junior event will also be held at the Brudenell River course. The Mixed event is open to a team of a male and female.

All events will offer prizes for both gross and net divisions. In addition, the 72-hole Better Ball will have a Senior Division for ages over 55 years.

Golfsmith, a leading golf retailer in the US will be presenting trophies to the winners. Additionally, there will be a large prize table for winners to choose from valuable prizes.
