Tishman Speyer Appoints Rakesh Sharma As Managing Director, Head - India

Nov. 19, 2008 - PRLog -- Tishman Speyer today announced that Rakesh Sharma has joined the company as the new Managing Director, Head - India.  In this role, Mr. Sharma will oversee a team of more than 100 professionals, responsible for more than 40 million square feet of commercial and residential space in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai. He will also lead Tishman Speyer’s efforts to grow its operations throughout India. Mr. Sharma succeeds Kok Huat Goh, who had been serving as interim Head – India.  

Prior to joining Tishman Speyer, Mr. Sharma served as the Western Region Executive Director for DLF, where Mr. Sharma specialized in residential, IT commercial, retail and hotel developments. He also opened the company’s first non-Delhi office in Mumbai and led DLF’s expansion to Pune, Nagpur, Gandhinagar, Baroda and Goa.

Mr. Sharma also previously served as the head of special projects of the Infrastructure Development Sector of Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, where he was instrumental in completing the first phase of Mahindra World City – Chennai, India’s first Integrated Business City and Special Economic Zone.  His professional background also includes hospitality experience from his work as Director of Projects for The Indian Hotels Company, a Tata company that operates the Taj Group of Hotels chain. He also served as the Country Manager for Tata Tea Ltd. in Moscow, Russia. Mr. Sharma holds a post-graduate degree in management from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
