Nov. 17, 2008 - PRLog -- The Data Governance and Stewardship Community of Practice (DGS-COP) will present a web tele-gathering, ' A Case Study on Governance and Data Change Management' on Thursday, November 20, 2008, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM EST. Data Governance Institute president, Gwen Thomas, will present a list of best practices for implementing and sustaining Change Control, Change Notification, and Change Management for master data and metadata that has been compiled by DGS-COP members.

Most organizations have formal Change Management (or at least Change Control) in place for foundational technology, applications, and even code; however, it's rare for organizations to have formal, mature Change Management in place for the structure and values of reference data and master data. Without these controls, organizations risk master data quality devolving over time. Members of the Data Governance and Stewardship Community of Practice have compiled a list of best practices; these will be presented and discussed at this event.

This event is a continuation of the Data Governance and Stewardship Community of Practice 'Response to the Economy' policy, and will be free to attend for both community members and non-members.  To register this event, visit http://www.DataStewardship.com. For further information about these events or the Community of Practice, email DGS-COP director Susan Gonzales at: susan.gonzales@datagovernance.com.

About the DGS-COP 'Response to the Economy' Policy

In recognition of recent economic events and their resultant effect on many corporate budgets, the Data Governance & Stewardship Community of Practice (DGS-COP) will allow non-members to attend members-only web events through November at no charge. DGS-COP strongly believes that temporary financial constraints affecting any organization budgets should not be a factor in continuing education and the proliferation of Data Governance best practices.
