Gold Strike Casino Reort Completes Multi-Million Dollar Renovation Project

Nov. 17, 2008 - PRLog -- TUNICA, Miss.  – Gold Strike Casino Resort in Tunica, Miss. has just completed the largest renovation and remodeling project in the popular resort’s history.  The multi-million dollar upgrade, which started two years ago, included all of Gold Strike’s 1,133 oversized rooms and 125 suites, the conference and convention center, the Atrium Café, the Courtyard Buffet and the high-limit gaming area and lobby.

The 31-story Gold Strike Casino Resort is one of the most recognizable buildings in Tunica and was – at the time it was built – the tallest building in Mississippi.  Jeanne Starling and Joyce Chester, interior designers for Gold Strike’s parent company, MGM MIRAGE, led the project and described the new look at the resort as a perfect balance of modern and traditional design.

“We wanted something that is comfortable and appeals to all age groups,” Starling said.  “The goal was to attract new guests to Gold Strike without alienating our existing customers who were already quite pleased with Gold Strike’s design.”

During the renovation and remodeling project, 50 new luxury suites were added to the resort’s floor plan and two new “super suites” now occupy Gold Strike’s top floor.  All Gold Strike rooms are now equipped with LCD Phillips flat-screen televisions and feature custom walnut furniture designed by the MGM MIRAGE design group.  All rooms have marble baths and chic furnishings throughout that reveal the signature luxury guests expect from MGM MIRAGE resorts.  Mississippi artist John Whitt was commissioned by Gold Strike to create a unique stained glass sculpture that is now the focal point of the remodeled lobby area.

The 30,000-square-foot convention and conference center got new furniture, new carpeting and new wall coverings.  An elegant 10,000-square-foot grand ballroom, a large pre-function area and numerous auxiliary meeting rooms (ranging in size from 400 to 1,100-square-feet) can accommodate meetings, receptions and conferences with up to 800 attendees.  All conference and convention center rooms are now equipped with state-of-the-art audio/video equipment.  

Guests of Gold Strike Casino Resort are familiar with the resort’s wide range of restaurant offerings, including the award-winning Chicago Steakhouse, The Atrium Café, Courtyard Buffet, Food Court, Gold’s Deli, Pizzeria Fresh, Burger City, while room service can meet the needs of hungry visitors most other times of the day or evening.  With a variety of restaurants, an entertainment facility and Vegas-style casino floor all under one roof, some guests rarely leave the Gold Strike Casino Resort once they arrive.
