Joe Battista has been named an honored member in services by Princeton Premier.

Joe Battista, executive director of the Nittany Lions Club, has been chosen for inclusion in the 2008-2009 Princeton Premier Registry.
 
Oct. 20, 2008 - PRLog -- Joe Battista is the executive director of the Nittany Lions Club, Penn State University.  He has been in this capacity since April 2006 and is depended on for the annual fundraising efforts that benefit the scholarship, sports medicine and academic programs of twenty-nine varsity sports teams. Joe joined the staff of Penn State in 1987, as the head coach of the Penn State Icers and in the nineteen years under his direction, the Icers amassed a winning percentage of .800 and captured six ACHA National Titles with no losing seasons. Joe was named ACHA Division 1 Coach of the Year on two occasions, 1999-2000 and 2001-02.  During the 2005-06 season, he won his 500th game with a 6-5 decision over Arizona State and was inducted into Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.  Joe’s relationship with Penn State began shortly after his high school graduation.  As an undergraduate student, he helped Penn State to two National Titles and was team captain and MVP during his senior year, 1982.  After graduating from Smeal College of Business with a degree in marketing in 1983, Joe became an assistant to the marketing director of the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins.  He then joined the coaching ranks of Kent State University and Culver Military Academy, where he was a US hockey player development and coaching certification instructor.  In addition to all of his professional duties, Joe maintains an ambitious philanthropic profile on campus and in the community.  He is the honorary chair for Easter Seals, volunteers for The Second Mile, supports the Cropwalk for the World Food Bank and participates in a variety of local sports programs.  Joe and his wife Heidi live in Pennsylvania with their three children, Brianna, Jonathon and Ryan.  In his spare time, Joe enjoys playing golf, skiing and of course, hockey.
