The test was performed on a 450-horsepower Cummins diesel tractor.  
   
“The test confirmed that both Nitrous Oxide (NOx) and Hydrocarbons (HC) are reduced significantly.  Using Centron NOx reductions were 38% at idle and 66% under load.  HC reductions were 23% at idle and 42% under load.”  Upon completion of the test Claude Travis - Past Chairman Joint SAE/TMC Truck & Bus In-Service Test Procedure Committee stated “We have undertaken many tests before as we have never seen emission reductions as dramatic as these”  
   
Blowby was also measured.  “Prior to Centron being used in the diesel engine the tractor showed a blowby reading of 8. After Centron was used in this same tractor, the blowby reading was reduced to 6. These readings were confirmed by the use of a dynamometer test.  A low blowby reading indicates that the engine is running efficiently and harmful emissions are reduced.”  

Mr. Travis went on to state “In our experience, we have never seen as dramatic effect on blowby as in the SAE test we conducted when Centron was added to the diesel fuel in the prescribed manner.”
