Aug. 25, 2008 - PRLog -- (Tampa, FL) – A Tampa sports writer and former retail director has compiled a World Wide Web site that enables sports enthusiasts to determine whether one sports eras teams or athletes would defeat another eras teams or athletes.  The quintessential sports match ups, found at www.magicmatchup.com provides statistics and analysis concerning two teams or athletes of differing eras matching up monthly.

The site described as “impressive” by acclaimed sports artist Paul Madden of Pontiac, Michigan, provides statistical research for different teams and athletes, and allows users to vote and write about the monthly sports match up.  “Magicmatchup.com” offers sports fans a one-stop opportunity to research sports teams, but also the “opportunity to win prizes for their forum writing,” said the site’s creator, Mr. William B. Philp, a long-time sports writer and sports memorabilia retail director of operations.

“It is a very well done and comprehensive site,” said Todd Smith, a special Webmaster for Salisbury College in Maryland.  The site is designed to offer an answer to the most debated question in sports today: “Who would win if different sports eras teams or athletes played each other in their prime?”  Philp said.  “Unlike other sports sites, www.magicmatchup.com provides fans the opportunity to vote and blog about each match up.”

Philp, a sports writer and a former Director of Operations for the leading sports memorabilia company in the world, said he compiled statistics and analysis based on his conversations with sports writers, sports business owners, athletes and fans who struggled to answer whether one sports era was better than another one.  “I realized the potential for helping sports fanatics answer the question while using a medium that they are comfortable with.”

Philp explained that now people can voice their opinion and debate others world wide from the comfort of home or work.  Individuals cannot only vote on the match up each month, but can win prizes by writing their opinions and analysis determining a winner.  “Fans can now debate with other fans all over the world, not just around the office water cooler,” Philp said.
