| AABALAT Undergoes Facelift: New Website, Management Changes, More InventoryMajor website refresh, management changes, and a broader inventory are just a few of the facelift aspects AABALAT Fine & Rare Wines has undergone since February 2008.
By: Karen Orlandi, VP Marketing The new website, which can be viewed at http://www.aabalat.com, includes a more user friendly inventory browsing interface, a more professional look and feel, and additional functionality to better incorporate the expanded scope of product and service offerings. Events, a wine club, and wine storage are a few of the new and upcoming AABALAT website features and services. “We were outgrowing our former operational aspects as our customer base changed the way they purchased and our sales grew,” said Bob Orlandi, owner of AABALAT Fine & Rare Wines. Bob explained that in 1995, when Aabalat was founded, most customers placed orders via snail mail or phone. “In 2008 almost 100% of all orders are generated from our internet site, so we decided to invest in our website to better suit our customers’ needs.” Changes were also made to the management organization to better serve the customer and to align the employee talent with the business’s next growth horizon. Bob Orlandi was elected President / Managing Director, with key responsibilities to oversee all aspects of the business. Bob brings a host of skill sets from his previous career experiences that includes management, sales, and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) As the number of customer orders grew, so did AABALAT’s need for a more prominent operations group. Peter Parks was promoted to Operations Manager to lead the operations team in managing customer orders and inventory levels. Peter is currently working with brokers and winery representatives to expand the inventory based on AABALAT’s vision of future customer demand. “We will always maintain one of the best Bordeaux and Burgundy selections on the internet, but we also believe our customers are growing interested in rare wines from other parts of the world,” commented Peter. California, especially cult and older vintage bottles, and Italian wines are the biggest areas of growth for AABALAT. “It was amazing to see how quickly and positively our customer base responded to our new offerings.” About AABALAT Fine & Rare Wines: AABALAT Fine & Rare Wines, founded in 1995, is a Petaluma, CA based internet wine retailer.
