Gone are the days when you wrote the “old school” press releases, snail mailed them to journalists or called reporters to see if they received it, then crossed your fingers and hoped they'd print your story.

The power of the Internet and World Wide Web makes it possible for you to skip the media gatekeepers. Today you can sit at your desktop computer and write a press release to anyone -- anywhere who need what you are offering. When you are done writing, you could store your press release in an online media room or post it on your home page.

You don’t have to wait for the mail person to deliver your press release to editors. You can type your release in a word document and send it to an editor online.  When the editor is finished critiquing your release you can send it direct to a distribution service which will send it to other media outlets.

You don’t have to type your press release using the old heavy duty, block letter type writer. You can write your release using a lap top and include special computer codes and html links.
