| Sankt Otten's Wunden Gibt Es Immer Wieder US CD ReleasePerth, Western Australia; Osnabrueck, Germany. The Australian music label Hidden Shoal Recordings announce the US CD release of Wunden Gibt Es Immer Wieder, the latest album by German cinematic pop outfit Sankt Otten, through Tonevendor.
Having already generated a wonderful buzz from its digital release, making a number of Top 10 of 2007 lists, garnering a range of glowing reviews, and receiving extensive airplay, Sankt Otten’s Wunden Gibt Es Immer Wieder will now receive its US CD release through the wonderful US-based distributor Tonevendor. From the opening track of Wunden Gibt Es Immer Wieder, Sankt Otten make their intentions known. Stephan Otten’s echoing Rhodes tumbles over Oliver Klemm’s elegant trademark guitar drones. The album represents a significant progression, drawing upon previous forays into dark melancholic trip hop, yet discarding the form. The band present a musical vision that is even more epic, cinematic, noir – and distinctly their own. “The instrumental ambience of the album is lavishing, gorgeous, and inexplicably German… And the melodies… Ah, the melodies. The track ‘Der Groove Des Guten Gewissens’, with its dramatic strings and high octave piano notes, is a true cinematic experience – turn that up and walk around the city in the rain, and let me know if your eyes don’t swell up with tears” – Headphone Commute “an orchestrated landscape that is entirely one with nature … With this release, Sankt Otten has surely made a statement… fusing together complex musical genres and making the product sound so simple, and yet so beautiful” – The Silent Ballet Wunden Gibt Es Immer Wieder is the follow up to the immensely successful and critically praised Wir Koennen Ja Freunde Bleiben, which is now also available on CD through Tonevendor. “It’s all just so intensely moody and melancholy, jazzy and dramatic, and so so gorgeous” – Aquarius Records Sankt Otten began life in Germany, 1999 and over the ensuing period released two recordings on the German electronic label Eleganz Records. After their brilliant and wonderfully received debut 12” on Eleganz, ‘Stille Tage im Klischee’, the band followed up with the equally impressive Eine Kleine Traurigkeit. In 2006 the band released the album Wir Koennen Ja Freunde Bleiben through Hidden Shoal Recordings, collecting the pearls of their work from 2000 to 2005. Hidden Shoal Recordings’ current catalogue includes releases that slip between the edges of experimental ambient work, shoegazing pop, post-rock and indie rock. The label has earned a reputation for releasing exciting and engaging new independent music unbound by genre or style. Hidden Shoal Recordings was recently chosen as one of the top ten favourite labels of 2007 by Textura magazine and has been dubbed “This generation’s 4AD” by prominent New York radio host DJ Mojo.
