Veiled Secrets
ONE: The Digital Dialog takes a look at the role of the veil in the Scriptures
from the Jewish, Christian and Muslim perspectives

WHO:   ONE: The Digital Dialog, the new web site that presents side-by-side comparisons of the faith, beliefs and traditions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

WHAT:   ONE: The Digital Dialog announces this edition’s feature topic: Veils. In this Dialog, ONE takes a look at how the Jewish, Christian and Muslim faiths view the role of veils for women and men as seen in the Torah, Bible and Koran.

WHERE:   www.onedialog.com

WHEN:   June 4, 2008

WHY:   In post-9/11 America, the site of a Muslim woman wearing a veil might make some people feel a bit uncomfortable.  ONE: The Digital Dialog is taking the opportunity to show how the veil is an adopted symbol common to not only Islam, but Judaism and Christianity. The veil and certain other types of dress noted in the Jewish, Christian and Muslim communities are not meant to invoke fear or hatred, but rather symbolize a commitment to God and belonging to him, as well as to distinguish oneself as a faithful follower of religion.

ONE’s ultimate goal is to help promote religious understanding. More information is available about this topic and others covered by ONE. The ONE writers, expert authors and educators in the fields of Jewish, Muslim and Christian beliefs and customs, are available to provide information and interviews on this and other faith-based or current event topics.
