April 15, 2008 - PRLog -- Baltimore, MD --- The first model training rehearsal took place at the Forrest Park Senior Center on April 5, 2008. Half of the models that were selected from November and January’s casting calls came out to get trained by Saran Fossett, one of the Executive Producers of Baltimore’s Fashion Week.

“I want to see everyone go home after they show me their walk for the first time. But, if I not impressed, you will have to stay here until 1 o’clock, to fix your walk,” says Fossett.

During the model training rehearsal, Sharan Nixon, President/CEO of Baltimore’s Fashion Week, opened with a brief introduction regarding recent updates for fashion week, including the addition of two more days of runway events. Fossett facilitated mini workshops to work on the model’s techniques, presence, and overall catwalk look. Christopher Wills, Saran’s music director, provided his music for the models and assistance to the male models in the technique or walking. Wesley Watson, Fossett’s assistant, provided prep talks for the models to boost their work ethic and confidence. Other Design Team members were on the look out for talent as well including Jeff Butler, Director of Photographer; Antoine Brown, Vice President; and Mike Williams, Creative Director; and Paulette Wilson, Public Relations Coordinator.

As models showed off their signature saunters during the rehearsal, Fossett felt there was a need for improvement. “When models go to casting calls, they have one chance to walk. They are in or out. I’m helping these models perfect their walk without any expense and I just want them to show me that they get what I am trying to train them to do,” says Fossett.

Nixon believes that the models will show improvement once they absorb what they are given from the first model training rehearsal. “I think some of the models were nervous. But, I hope they take all the advice we have given them and bring it with them at the next model training rehearsal,” says Nixon.

Baltimore’s Fashion Week would like to thank all of the models that participated in the first model training rehearsal and hope to see the models at the next model training rehearsal scheduled for April 12th.
