April 12, 2008 - PRLog -- After two decades of near total self exile and public silence the reclusive Funk-Rock pioneer and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame icon is hitting the road again to perform a limited number of historical and intimate performances around the World.
Stone known for writing and performing his large catalog of funky pop/rock classic hits in the 60’s and 70’s busted onto the music scene like wildfire in the late 1960’s from the San Francisco Bay Area. His appearance at Woodstock single-handedly changed the direction of Pop/Rock/Funk/Soul music of the time. Then like a wraith he virtually disappeared from the face of the planet for what seemed like an eternity only to appear like magic from the ether for a landmark and controversial appearance at the Grammy’s in 2006.
More recently Sly and the Family Stone sightings have been confirmed with sold-out performances in New York. At the legendary B.B. Kings, The Olympia in Paris and the Flamingo in Las Vegas.
After decades of requests from press, radio and fans Sly has decided to perfom live for his legions of admirers from all around the world. Many members of the original Family Stone including trumpeter Cynthia Robinson, saxophonist Jerry Martini, and Sister Rose Stone are joining Sly for an upcoming world tour in 2008.
Millions of people have grown up listening to Sly’s hit recordings which include "I Want to Take You Higher", "Everybody is a Star", "Stand!", "You Can Make It If You Try", "Dance To The Music", “Everyday People", "Hot Fun in the Summertime", "M'Lady", "Sing a Simple Song”, “If you Want me to Stay” and “Thank You (Falettinme be Mice Elf Again)”.
