April 3, 2008 - PRLog -- LAS VEGAS, March 13/ PR Casino Tech Today. Since early 2005 well known casino industry analysts and developers of innovative networked solutions have predicted the introduction of server based technologies onto casino floors rolling out over 2006… then 2007 and now 2008. Until now the predicted roll out has always been met with hope and excitement from developers and an all out “maybe next year” approach from casino operators. However this approach is changing and server based / downloadable / networked gaming is firmly on its way to a casino next door to you sooner than you think.

Announced just yesterday, the MGM Grand at Foxwoods which opens May 2008 will feature high-speed Ethernet capabilities for a fully networked casino floor powered by Bally Technologies involving at least 1,500 slot machines.

Speaking on the inevitable replacement of slot-machines on casino floors across the USA Charles Norton, Portfolio Manager at the Vice Fund commented “We’re about a year out from a monster replacement cycle”.

“Server based gaming will boom sooner than people think” commented Enric Barba, Director of Gaming and Systems at Unidesa and continued “It represents a new way of management which is more effective for the operator, providing the tools to optimize the management, and providing the players with new features that will lead to more satisfying game play experiences.”

It certainly seems that Casino operators are waking up to the benefits of this technology with as many as 76% of industry CEO’s surveyed in G2E’s Future Watch Survey (2007) agreeing that in five years, 20 – 60 percent of the gaming floor will consist of server based or downloadable gaming machines.

Commenting on the upcoming Server Based Gaming for Casinos Summit USA organized by Casino Tech Today, which takes place on June 25 – 26 at the JW Marriott, Las Vegas, Dan Ahrens of the Ladenburg Thalman Gaming and Casino Fund said "Server Based Gaming systems are set to impact every Casino over the next 12 - 18 months... those who are not braced for change will be left behind. The Server Based Gaming for Casinos Summit is the only focused summit to discuss this technology in the depth it deserves. If you are involved with Casino operations, you simply cannot miss this opportunity to get up-to-date on this vital technology ahead of the replacement cycle - I am looking forward to it very much!"
