Anasy Best Documentary Competition In Abu Dhabi, Uae

March 30, 2008 - PRLog -- International and local media joined ANASY and SAMA DUBAI TV officials for the press conference launching the Best Documentary competition in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The following was thus released:

"ANASY" launches Documentary Films Competition in cooperation with SAMA DUBAI, Grand Prize value is AED 500,000.

ANASY Co. for Media Production has announced the opening of the first round of the Documentary Films Competition entitled “Document your talent……get inspired by your homeland” organized in cooperation with SAMA DUBAI T.V. channel from 26 March to 12 May 2008. ANASY has allocated AED 1,050,000 Dirhams (one million and fifty thousand dirhams) as total prizes. However, the grand prize value would be AED 500,000. The competition would be held every two years, and this year consists of two categories: the first "Sheikh Zayed Film" and the second "Free Choice". Registration would be opened for all competitors of all ages in the Gulf and Arab countries.

CRISTINA AL MOUALLEM - ANASY's Assistant Manager stated that, the competition aims to support and encourage the young generations or professionals to work in the documentary films and to get involved in this bountiful and genuine field in the shape that has not been dealt with in such depth and focus by any other establishment before ANASY Co. for Media production.

She stated: “This competition is considered the first of its kind in the world and of the highest value. With its two categories "Sheikh Zayed Film" and "Free Choice", it opens the door for all nationalities and ages in the Gulf and Arab countries, as well as films produced this year or before and which participated or didn't participate in other competitions, thus giving the chance for as many participants as possible. In order to support and encourage youths to produce documentary films and enhance the cultural, artistic and innovative level, conditions were limited to two requirements; the film duration shall not be less than 30 minutes and to provide a subtitle translated into English. 12 of May 2008 would be the deadline for receiving applications. We've selected a jury committee including an international jury panel and it consists of:
-   Muna Abu Sulayman – Goodwill Amabassador
  and Public Speaker and Media Personality;
-   Dr. Khaled Choukat – Director of the Arab Film  
  Festival in Rotterdam, also a critic, producer &
  Writer
-   Rizkhan – International Journalist based in
   Washington DC in U.S.A. and Dubai in U.A.E.

Awards are distributed as follows:

Competition Awards
1. First standing "Grand prize" for AED 500,000

   Free Choice Awards

2. Second standing Award   : AED 100,000.
3. Third standing Award   : AED 50,000.

Sheikh Zayed Film Award: AED 100,000.
Other Competition Awards for both categories:

Best Directing Award: AED 50,000.
Best Editing Award: AED 50,000.
Best Idea/Message Award: AED 50,000.
Best Character Award: AED 50,000.
Best presentation Award: AED 50,000.
Most Deserved Award: AED 50,000.
She added: “ANASY considers that the prize would be just the beginning for the winner, since it undertakes the responsibility to distribute and adopt the winning films. The competition is really a leading one in this field and it's an opportunity to prove innovative capabilities and potentials. The next round would witness (God Willing) the start toward receiving international applications.

Since we believe in supporting and helping youths and university students, ANASY started providing all means, facilities and equipments for Zayed University female-students to shoot documentary films under the supervision of the university professors. The most remarkable ones are the shooting equipments and transportation by helicopter to facilitate movement among shooting locations.
