Aug. 31, 2007 - PRLog -- New York State Assemblymember Crystal D. Peoples (141st A.D.) and Ellicott District Councilmember Brian C. Davis will present the 3rd Annual Parent Power Conference and Breakfast on Saturday, September 15, 2007 from 9 - 11:30am at the CAO Pratt-Willert Community Center, located at 422 Pratt Street. This year’s conference theme is entitled, “Parenting on Purpose: Integrating Learning Opportunities at Home.” Johnathan Holifield, CEO of the Buffalo Olmsted Parks will be delivering the keynote address focusing on integrating education and communication amongst students, schools and parents. Contrary to last year’s conference, “Partnering for the Best Educational Opportunities,” this year’s conference encourages parents to reinforce the benefits of education and continue the learning process at home through interactive discussions, activities, research and homework review.

Community organizations are invited to share information on tutoring assistance, SAT preparation programs, financial aid and other pertinent resources with participating students and parents at our vendor tables.  “This is a great opportunity for parents, school administrators and elected officials to collaborate on the various resources available to support Buffalo’s children and reinforce the value of a quality education. We have to take a pro-active approach towards our children’s education; it can not be left up to others,” Assemblymember Peoples stated.

For more information on the conference and to RSVP, please contact the office at 716-897-9714.
