Peru Grand Tasting Fall 2008
New York City, NY – Entrepreneur Edgar Perez presented on August 17th an unforgettable evening of fine dining in Midtown Manhattan: Peru Grand Tasting 2008. This fantastic gourmet tasting was the first of many dinners Peruvian native Edgar Perez has planned and promoted through Facebook and www.flavorsofperu.com to help make his dream come true: a vibrant and authentic Peruvian Bistro in Manhattan. Mr. Perez's goal reaches far beyond what the current Peruvian cuisine scene in NY offers.
With his Columbia MBA in hand Mr. Perez is approaching his project with an eye to the sky and an ear to the ground. Attendees have volunteered to provide him with information he needs to guarantee that his restaurant will surpass even their expectations. Mr. Perez explains, “I wanted to somehow use the internet and social media tools such as Facebook to reach those people who could appreciate my concept, give me feedback, and help spread the word.”
He has created a Facebook group “Support Edgar’s quest to transform Peruvian dining in New York City!” One grateful participant from his last event stated, “We have waited a long time to experience the best of Peruvian cuisine, and this evening was truly a perfect celebration of its arrival! I was thrilled to be able to experience for the first time authentic Peruvian ceviche, perfectly poured pisco sours, and a wonderful performance of Peruvian dance.” Another one added: “I thoroughly enjoyed each dish! I especially loved the Causa Peruana and could not put my fork down when tasting the Lomo Saltado. My taste buds are looking forward to another installment of this kind, while my heart can't stop dreaming about Peru!”
Mr. Perez and his team are ready to take the best of Peruvian Cuisine to bigger audiences in New York City (Nov. 4th), Boston (Nov 11th) and Washington DC (Nov 18th) with Peru Grand Tasting Fall 2008. Peruvian Bistro will be a full-service, upscale restaurant dedicated to replicating the finest of Peruvian delicacies and creations. Mr. Perez plans to launch the first Peruvian Bistro in New York City, for which he is currently raising capital from an international base of investors. Employing some of the world’s finest Peruvian chefs, schooled in the art of preparing Peruvian fare, the restaurant concept presents an upscale experience bathed in colonial inspirations reflecting Peru’s rich cultural influences.
