![]() Ghana Cocoa Board Approves Humi[K] Organic Fertilizer for Cocoa FarmsHumi[K], marketed in Ghana as Boosu Organic Fertilizer, receives official approval from Ghana Cocoa Board for use on mature cocoa — doubling yields and advancing sustainable agriculture.
Humi[K], manufactured by HGS Bioscience USA, is marketed in Ghana as Boosu Organic Fertilizer by IMX Green Limited, and in Nigeria as Humi[K] WSP by AgroGreen Dynamics Limited. Known for its high potassium content (14% K2O), Humi[K] is designed to boost crop yields while supporting sustainable farming practices. Field trials across Eastern, Ashanti, and Western regions showed Humi[K] delivered 2,137.8 kg/ha of dry cocoa beans over two seasons. This was nearly double the yield of unfertilized plots (1,026.1 kg/ha) and significantly higher than the reference foliar fertilizer (1,573.7 kg/ha). No phytotoxic effects were observed. This approval marks a major milestone for climate-smart agriculture in West Africa. Humi[K] offers farmers a renewable, high-performance alternative to chemical fertilizers, supporting soil health and long-term productivity. A spokesperson from AgroGreen Dynamics stated, "This is more than a product approval—it's a validation of our commitment to sustainable transformation across the cocoa sector." Humi[K] should be applied monthly from May to October using a motorized spraying machine at restrictor nozzle number 3, at the rate of 375 ml per 11 liters of water (equivalent to 3.75 L/ha/month). The Ghanaian approval complements AgroGreen's rollout of Nigeria's first Climate-Smart Villages under the Akwa Ibom Arise Agenda. These villages integrate Humi[K] WSP into a regenerative farming model designed to boost food security and empower communities.
