| Lee and Collier commissions proclaim September as 'Sizzle Dining Month'Locals, SWFL visitors encouraged to Dine with Purpose as Sizzle Dining ends Sept. 30
By: Sizzle Dining During recent meetings, county commissioners presented official proclamations to Guy E. Clarke, executive director of Sizzle Dining, that cite the nonprofit organization's positive impact on the Southwest Florida community. Sizzle Dining helps drive foot traffic to local restaurants during September, a traditionally slower time of the year for hospitality. Additionally, the proclamations recognized Sizzle Dining's extensive support to Blessings in a Backpack, an organization that provides food and nourishment to elementary school students throughout the school year. For every meal purchased, restaurant owners donate $1 of the proceeds to help the charity. Now in its fifth year as beneficiary, Blessings in a Backpack has received over $150,000 from Sizzle Dining to help ensure over 30,000 hunger-free weekends for children in Southwest Florida. Sizzle Dining wraps up Sept. 30, and residents and guests of Southwest Florida are encouraged to dine with purpose and enjoy Sizzle Dining savings at any of the 127 participating local restaurants. Diners can enjoy two-course breakfast and lunch options for $19 or $29, and three-course dinners for $29, $39 or $49. "It's an honor to be recognized by our local leaders and I'd like to thank Collier County Commissioner Dan Kowal and Lee County Commissioner Brian Hamman for highlighting the impact of Sizzle Dining on the local hospitality and tourism industry and the ripple effect it has on our greater economy," said Clarke. "We chose September for Sizzle Dining to support restaurants during the slowest period of the year to give them a boost. We invite the community to dine with purpose during this final stretch of Sizzle Dining month." To view the full list of Sizzle Dining sponsors and supporters, visit SizzleDining.org/ End
