Psyloom Launches Beta Testing for Psyche Engine, an AI for Creating "Living" Digital Character

BEOGRAD, Serbia - Aug. 18, 2025 - PRLog -- Tech company Psyloom today announced the launch of closed beta testing for its revolutionary AI engine, the Psyche Engine, designed to create deep, psychologically authentic non-player characters (NPCs) for video games. The technology allows developers and writers to generate unique digital personalities from a simple text description.

Modern NPCs in games are typically limited by pre-written scripts and dialogue trees, making their behavior predictable. The Psyche Engine addresses this problem at a fundamental level. Instead of creating a "role" or a "mask," the engine models a complete personality with its own internal motives, desires, fears, and contradictions. This allows characters to react naturally and unpredictably to any player action, going far beyond the confines of a script.

"We want to give game creators a tool that lets them not just write dialogue, but craft souls," says Valery Kondakov, creator of Psyloom. "Our main innovation is the creation of characters who retain their essence and remain consistent in their behavior throughout the game, unlike standard language models that 'forget' their identity or play a prewritten role over time. A character made by Psyloom can get angry or surprised, change their occupation but they will always remain themselves."

Key features of the Psyche Engine available for testing include:
  • Deep Personality Generation: Create a complex psychological profile from a short text description (e.g., "a jaded detective, disillusioned with the system").
  • Natural Interaction: Players can communicate with NPCs using free-form text input instead of selecting from pre-written lines. Characters react based on their unique personality.
  • Plot Stress-Testing: Developers can place created characters into any hypothetical situation to observe their natural reactions and test the durability of plot points.
  • Content Generation: The engine can create texts (diaries, letters, reports) from the character's point of view, maintaining their unique style and thought process

To demonstrate the technology's capabilities, the Psyloom team created the detective game "Masks of Blackwood". Before each session, the engine randomly generates not only the circumstances of the murder but also the deep psychological profiles of all characters, including the killer. This makes every playthrough completely unique and unpredictable.

Psyloom invites game studios, independent developers, screenwriters, and narrative designers to participate in the Psyche Engine beta test. To provide a hands-on experience with the technology, the company has also released a demo tool called Character Forge.

Psyloom wants to make collaborations with game studios; the company's primary business model is licensing the Psyche Engine to industry professionals.
