GENEVA - Aug. 8, 2025 - PRLog -- SGS, the world's leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 109.25 to keep stakeholders informed about recent changes to Turkey's rules for labeling consumer products containing animal-derived materials.

The Turkish Ministry of Trade published Official Gazette No. 32865 on April 9, 2025, updating labeling requirements for consumer products containing animal-derived materials. It applies to a wide range of consumer goods, including:
- Textiles
- Footwear
- Gloves
- Bags
- Wallets
- Belts
- Watches
- Stationery
- Toys
- Furniture
- Carpets

Under the new rules, products containing animal parts must clearly indicate the species of animal from which the material is sourced – pig, cow, sheep, etc. This information must appear on the product label, packaging and accompanying documents. If the product is sold online, it must be displayed in the product description. The information must be clear, legible, non-misleading and in Turkish.

SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders up to date on regulatory and market changes that may impact their business. SafeGuardS 109.25 contains further details of Turkey's new rules for animal-derived materials, including the rationale behind the regulatory update.

Stakeholders are advised to review SGS's original SafeGuardS 109.25 for more information.
