Global CSO Platform Issues 9 Key Asks for 4th Financing for Development Conference

QUEZON CITY, Philippines - June 24, 2025 - PRLog -- Ahead of the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) in Seville, global civil society platform CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness (CPDE) has released "9 Key Asks for FfD4", and rallied fellow civil society organisations and development actors to support these crucial demands.

"CPDE calls for decisive action to align financing frameworks with people-centred, accountable, and inclusive development cooperation," the document read. "[These] key asks reflect CPDE's commitment to justice in development financing and the revitalization of the effective development cooperation (EDC) agenda within the international development cooperation (IDC) architecture and the broader financing for development agenda."

The document urged the development finance stakeholder community to:
  • Reaffirm development effectiveness principles.
  • Advance international development cooperation  architecture reform.
  • Ensure adequate and just aid volumes.
  • Address fragmentation and improve coherence.
  • Strengthen democratic country ownership.
  • Promote accountability and evidence-based approaches.
  • Enhance private sector accountability.
  • Enable civil society participation and resourcing.
  • Build political will for revitalized EDC.

CPDE also actively participated at the 4th Financing for Development (FfD4) preparatory meetings, pushing for breakthroughs in development finance commitments, and calling attention to the urgent challenges posed by multiple global crises, the derailment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the beleaguered aid system. In March, it published a statement on the First Draft of the FfD4 Outcome Document.
