| New Mobb Deep Mural Unveils in LIC — A Tribute to Queensbridge Legacy and Hip-Hop HistoryA mural hosted by Extra Butter and Infamous honors Prodigy and Havoc in their hometown, inspired by Chi Modu's iconic photo and brought to life by Queens-born artists.
QUEENS, NY – April 22, 2025 Extra Butter, a New York-based streetwear boutique known for cultural storytelling, announces the unveiling of a new public mural in partnership with The Infamous Bar and Queens-born artist Eli Lazare Salome-Diaz, honoring the 30th anniversary of The Infamous by Mobb Deep. The large-scale public artwork will be revealed on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM, directly across from the former site of 5Pointz in Long Island City — once considered the global center of graffiti and street art. The mural pays tribute to Mobb Deep's legacy and celebrates one of hip-hop's most influential duos. It also serves a greater purpose: to reconnect the community through visual storytelling and shared cultural pride. Inspired by Chi Modu's iconic photo from the The Infamous album cover, the mural was created by lead artist Eli Lazare Salome-Diaz, with support from fellow Queens artists Benny Guerra and Andaluz the Artist. Known for his murals of Nas, Prodigy, and other hip-hop legends, Eli brings over 30 years of experience as a street artist and community voice. Through his Urban Renaissance Collective, he uses public art to inspire pride and neighborhood revitalization. "This was an opportunity where everything aligned to tell an iconic story," said Bernie Gross, Creative Director at Extra Butter. "Our founding families are from Queens, and uplifting these neighborhoods has been a mission since day one. The mural honors The Infamous, which even inspired the name of our speakeasy bar. We hope it helps give Mobb Deep their flowers." The unveiling event will feature a live DJ, refreshments, and interviews with the artists and community partners.
