CryptPad Spring release is live: Improves mobile performance, DOCX/ODT and PPTX/ODP now available

PARIS - April 16, 2025 - PRLog -- XWiki SAS, the company behind the end-to-end encrypted collaboration platform CryptPad, has released version 2025.3.0. This latest update delivers significant performance enhancements, user interface improvements, and introduces long-requested support for Office-compatible document and presentation formats.

While the release does not introduce entirely new applications, it marks the beginning of a broader refactoring effort aimed at making CryptPad more modular, scalable, and easier to maintain.

Office-Compatible Editors Now in Beta on CryptPad.fr
Thanks to a community contribution by Wolfgang Ginolas, users can now create and edit DOCX, ODT, PPTX, and ODP files directly in CryptPad's interface. These editors are available in beta on www.cryptpad.fr, even for free users, with no account required.

Performance Improvements for Mobile and Large Accounts
The new release includes a restructured loading mechanism for pads and folders. Instead of loading all data at once, CryptPad now prioritizes the document the user is opening, with other content loading in the background. This change results in noticeably faster access, especially for users with large drives or working from mobile devices.

• New admin features allow administrators to manage admin roles via the UI
• Usability improvements for touchscreens and mobile devices
• Accessibility updates, particularly for the calendar and admin interface
• Improved support for OnlyOffice file uploads and more informative error messages

• Important security patches; self-hosted users are advised to update promptly

Note: The planned upgrade to OnlyOffice v8 has been postponed to version 2025.3.1 due to integration issues. To ensure stability, the upgrade will be included in a future release.
