EarthDNA Summer Ambassadors Program: Youth Leaders Immerse in 5-Day Program at MIT Media Lab to Gain Leadership Skills Vital to the Climate Movement

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Sept. 24, 2024 - PRLog -- Bringing together young minds from diverse backgrounds, the non-profit, EarthDNA, and Bluedot Institute delivered a carefully curated summer education program, giving select students access to cutting-edge resources and guidance from leading experts in various related fields. Through an innovative curriculum, experiential learning and guest speakers, the students explored ways to harness technology to address climate change, emphasizing practical applications for positive impact in local communities.

Young people will inherit a world filled with distraction, disinformation and inertia around difficult environmental issues facing our planet. The program provides tools for the next generation as they navigate the future for themselves, and work to bring along others with them.

Students sharpened their leadership and communications skills in intensive training at the MIT Media Lab. Each student has been given the opportunity to become a more effective advocate for global sustainability. They are now trained in vital skills needed for effective leadership in the climate movement.

The EarthDNA Ambassadors Summer Program is a unique leadership training program developed under the expertise of faculty at MIT and educators at Bluedot Institute. Through the development and application of the original Ambassadors Program curriculum (now available as Climate 101 courseware), the experts have gained deep insights into how to cultivate a new generation of leaders, passionate about creating positive environmental change.

The inaugural EarthDNA Ambassadors Summer Program took place in July at the MIT Media Lab, welcoming 20 students from diverse backgrounds. Program sponsors included the MIT Media Lab and Mr. and Mrs. Shaun Modi. Future programs are in the works and sponsorships are available. EarthDNA is dedicated to giving access and voice to under-represented communities, especially because the negative impacts of climate change disproportionately affect these communities.
