Follow on Google News | Raising Money to Fight Medical ErrorsLeading patient safety nonprofit Pulse CPSEA to host comedy fundraiser
By: Pulse CPSEA Following the death of her young son from mistakes made in his medical care, Long Island resident Ilene Corina, President and Founder of Pulse CPSEA, discovered that people are not prepared to become patients. She began to attend national and local medical conferences and was invited to participate in medical boards as a patient advocate, where she learned what healthcare providers already knew: medical errors are a serious problem in this country. Instead of fighting the system, she began to speak to the public about how they too can become better prepared as patients, and as advocates for their loved ones. Since 1996 Pulse has been the only organization in the world that promotes patient safety, advocacy and healthcare partnership with an all-volunteer, grassroots focus. On September 15th Pulse will be holding its annual comedy show, featuring some of Long Island's funniest standup comedians. There are food and drink and raffles. This event will help support Pulse's three free monthly virtual programs and the Pulse Patient Advocate Academy — all programs that help people become better informed as patients, caregivers, or professional patient advocates. Come join us, have a laugh and help everyone enjoy safer medical care. The date: Sunday, September 15th at 6:00 PM The place: The Brokerage Comedy Club 2797 Merrick Rd.
