SEM Link host STEM Literacy Event to Celebrate Solar Eclipse and Expose Young Learners to Astronomy and Astrophysics

ATLANTA - March 27, 2024 - PRLog -- Science, Engineering and Mathematics Link Inc. (SEM Link) through its Community STEM program is celebrating the upcoming total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8th by hosting a STEM Literacy event for young learners. Metro Atlanta will experience a partial solar eclipse, which will begin at 1:45 pm, reach its maximum coverage at 3:04 pm and end at 4:21 pm; solar glasses are needed to view the eclipse. The STEM Literacy event is in partnership with Brave + Kind Bookshop on Saturday, April 6th from 11:00 am-1:00pm at the bookshop located at 722 W. College Ave in Decatur. "We are over the moon (or Sun in this case) excited to collaborate with SEM Link to create community and promote literacy as we celebrate the upcoming April solar eclipse! This event will introduce young learners, youth in grades K-3, to astronomy and astrophysics. Dr. Whitney Gaskins will read her book, The Great American Eclipse to the students. The reading of the book will be followed by hands-on activities to introduce kids to solar eclipses and other topics in astronomy and astrophysics.
