Linda Marks puts a Nation's 'Hope, Love and Prayers' into a song for Damar Hamlin

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Dec. 12, 2023 - PRLog -- On January 2, 2023, the Buffalo Bills were set to take on the Cincinnati Bengals. Linda Marks, an avid Singer Songwriter, drawn to writing songs at the heart of our times, was also among those cheering on her Team from the comforts of home.

No one would ever believe that the young Damar Hamlin would encounter a life changing event at 8h55pm in the first quarter and a 7-3 count on the scoreboard.

'A dream turned to nightmare in the blink of an eye'

In a split second, cheers turned into shearing screams and then pure silence, leaving fans and players to kneel with tears in their eyes*. The game was suspended.

After Hamlin received a blow to the chest from one of the Bengals Receivers, he dropped to the ground suffering from commotio cardis. The Nation was watching intently with their hearts in their throats only hoping Hamlin would step back onto the field, but that never came. His Mother, Nina, who posed pre-game with her son for a selfie, was called to his side and they were both transported by ambulance to the nearest medical facility.  Thanks to quick medical action, Hamlin, a sixth round 2021 NFL Draft by the Bills, was served a second chance at life. Linda Marks wasn't spared from the high emotions that followed this real life movie scene and all she could think about was what his poor Mother would be going through.

``My eyes filled with tears, and I immediately thought of Damar's Mother, Nina, who had been shown with her son before the game.``

Marks being a Mother herself understands the anguish of worrying for their children after suffering a life threatening injury.

Marks, who has written well over 100 songs during her career, mostly inspired by stories at the heart of a human experience, through the lens of compassion and healing, found inspiration through Hamlin's tragedy via the viewpoint of a Mother's heart that created a conversation between her and her piano. Hope, Love and Prayers flows like a Psalm, a reminiscence of the evenings outcome and a prayer that drew a miracle upon the 9th night; his release from the hospital.
