The news comes as the race to develop AI technology heats up, just days after Nvidia (NVDA) unveiled the H200, its newest and most potent graphics processing unit (GPU) to fuel AI systems. H200 is slated to launch in the second quarter of 2024 and is described by Bank of America analysts as a "notable upgrade to already leading H100 offerings."

Leading the AI chip industry, Nvidia's technology powers AI-driven systems at Google, Amazon (AMZN), Microsoft, and other firms pushing AI innovation.

Microsoft stated that "Azure works closely with Nvidia," and the business is growing industry collaborations, including those with Nvidia, even if reports suggest that the Azure Maia AI Accelerator might eventually replace Nvidia processors in Microsoft's cloud.
