Media Alert - Mini vs. Mustang Enduros at Velocity Invitational, Sonoma Raceway Nov. 10-12
Before Ford vs. Ferrari there was Ford vs. Mini - Ford lost. Sonoma Raceway in California hosts the third annual clash between Ford and Mini, harkening back to the epic international battles of the 1960s and 1970s
Christoph quickly and successfully made the transition from weekend track day driver in modified street and race cars on numerous California and Oregon race circuits, to a professionally trained racing driver and team owner in just the last few years.
His fifth place overall finish, and second among Minis with an ailing car during the 2022 Mini vs. Mustang Enduros at WeatherTech Laguna Seca, was one of the weekend's unexpected highlights. A full race review can be found at: https://bit.ly/
Randy Unsbee, Gresham, OR, co-driver #35
He is former team owner/driver of the #61, #62 and #63 Minis at P.U.R.E. Minis of the 1970s, which are now owned by Don Racine of Grass Valley, CA and are racing this weekend at the Velocity Invitational. Randy won two undefeated championships with his #62 in 16 straight races, a record still unmatched in 50 years. He was reunited with his car in 2019 at the 60th Anniversary Mini Race at Portland International Raceway in Oregon, and finished on the podium with a third in class after starting from last.
Randy is the former co-driver of the #969 Mini Cooper at the 2021 Mini vs. Mustang Enduros with David Cooper with an overall finish of 12th. Last year he finished fifth overall with Christoph Fritsch and second among 19 Minis. This weekend the #969 is piloted by owner/driver Julie Racine, Don Racine's daughter and sister to Dennis Racine, and Anita Weemaes, partner with Christoph Fritsch.
