What Excess Soil Moisture Can Do to Trees & How to Treat It

TORONTO - Oct. 3, 2023 - PRLog -- Some trees are designed to be able to take a lot of water, whereas others will die if they have too much. We want to go over how excess soil moisture impacts your trees and how you can treat them.

Excess Soil Moisture

There is usually oxygen and water in soil but when there is too much water, the oxygen gets replaced. This makes the tree oversaturated. Trees do not just live on water, the need oxygen too that is absorbed from their roots. When there is an imbalance, the tree will get stressed. When its stressed, there are certain short-term and long-term implications.

Short-Term Issues

The main concern for short term impacts are the roots. They are what hold the tree down, acting as an anchor. They exert this anchorage when there is bad weather, strong winds, etc. As it helps the tree stay upright.
